The nail varnish I am reviewing today is no.402 Urban Purple in the Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish range priced at £4.59 at Boots in the UK.
I’m really into these dark autumn colours now the nights are getting dark and we’re leading up to Christmas and this is definitely a favourite of mine. The shade I would describe as being deep raspberry rather than purple like the name suggests.
The formulation of this nail varnish is perfect for me. It isn’t too thin so you don’t need to apply more than two coats to get great coverage but it also isn’t so thick that it ends up just peeling off your nails. The brush is also great. It is the maxi brush which means it is wide and designed with a anti-fade colour system. It makes for easy, smooth and quick application.
Since buying this nail varnish I’ve used it on several different occasions and have found the results to be consistent every time. Although, one negative point is that I do find it chips pretty easily, even with a generous helping of top coat. As the packaging claims it would last up to ten days and is ‘long lasting, chip resistant and anti-fade’, I would have expected a lot more from this product. Within 24 hours I had several chips which was very disappointing and has put me off using this polish for certain occasions.
