Eyebrow Threading Review

Hello Everyone!

I have been thinking about getting my eyebrows re-shaped for a while so I’ve been through the trivial task of growing them out for the last few months – hence the awful looking eyebrows in some of my photos recently.

I decided to try out threading as it sounded like a good alternative to waxing.  Depending on where you go the advice differs slightly.  I have been to two different places and one said you should get them redone every 2-3 weeks and the other every 3-4.  I guess it depends on how much growth you want there to be until you next go but you can pluck in between sessions if you want to keep the shape without having to get them done quite so often. I have also been advised to use oil (an equal mix of castor and olive) on my brows daily to help promote growth.  I was going to do this but I never got around to it and to be honest I have found that my brows have grown fine without the extra effort of having to apply oil every day so now I don’t think I’m going to bother.

I’ve had my eyebrows threaded three times and I still can’t get over how quick it is! You’re literally in the chair for 5-10 mins and it’s all over.  As for the pain… it isn’t too bad! It does pull a little on your skin but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting and it definitely wouldn’t stop me from getting it done, although everyone’s pain threshold is different so please consider this before giving it a go.

If you are thinking of getting your brows threaded I would also suggest to shop around unless you’re going to a place that has been recommended by someone (I find that is always best). The reason I say this is because I have found the price varies considerably.  The first place I went to cost £15 whereas the second was only £6 and actually did a much better job.

A downside to getting this done is that it also totally mucks up your makeup! You have to pull your skin so it is taught so you end up smudging your foundation and eye makeup.. not a good look.

So here are the before and after shots:

Before:

In this picture you can see all the random hairs scattered around under my arch.  I also felt my brows were a little flat, I wanted them a little more curved but you can’t really tell that from this picture.

After:

Overall,  I really like the look I get with eyebrow threading.  it is really precise and leaves really neat smooth edges on your brows.  I’m going to continue to get mine done regularly 🙂

What is your favourite way to tame your brows?

I get my eyebrowns threaded too! Use to always pluck them but was doing them every couple of days. I first started to get them done about 10 months ago.. I attended a session every 2 weeks, then 3 weeks, and during my last appointment I was told I can next see them in 4 weeks. So, it's definetly slowing down the regrowth 🙂
I too went to two different places and had 2 different feelings from it. I would recommend eyebrown threading although the bit Ihate about it is the growing bit as they can't thread it the hair is too short.
Just realised I wrote a LOT, sorry about that haha maybe I should blog my experiences on threading too x

Your eyebrows look amazing! I've never tried threading before, I usually just pluck them myself. How long do you grow out your eyebrows before getting them threaded? This is the thing which has always stopped me from doing it as I can't seem to leave my tweezers alone :s

Your brows look great! I can't believe how much they charge for threading! The highest I have ever paid was $9. Most place are like $6. I get mine threaded about every 12 weeks, and just maintain the shape with a tweezer for the most part in between.

I have been thinking about getting them threaded for a while it's just the growing them out bit that puts me off. I might go do it though 😀 x

No need to be sorry, it's nice to see a long comment and here about you experience too!

I don't like the regrowth either but I kind of feel like it's worth it because the finish is so much nicer than when I pluck!

You should definitely do a blog post about threading too, i'd love to read it x

    Thank you!

Originally I wait about 4 weeks but that was mainly because I wanted them reshaped. Inbetween sessions I go every 3 weeks as every 4 just gives me too much regrowth and every 2 just isn't quite long enough.

I used to be like that too with the tweezer and it is sooo hard not to! You do get used to it but it is tempting between sessions!

Ask them to use the cooling balm and that helps sooth them a bit after.

Thank you! Wow that is SO cheap! It's a good idea to pluck in between so you don't have to go as often, much cheaper! x

It does hurt but not really bad. I guess it is just a little more intense than plucking because more hairs are coming out at once but it's not so bad that you want them to stop. It's the kind of pain which isn't particularly pleasant but you can cope with it as it's over pretty quickly.

I've never had mine waxed.. i've heard that hurts too! Maybe I should get that done so I can compare haha

I'll check out your blog x
