Blogging Tips

Blogging Tips

I’ve been getting a lot of e-mails from people requesting a post about blogging tips so I thought it was about time I did one.  One thing I would like to point out before I start is that everyone’s blog is unique and it is completely up to you what you want to do.  This post is just aimed to help anyone who isn’t too sure about things or is looking for some advice.  If you don’t agree with anything by all means don’t do it and if you don’t follow the below tips I am by no means saying your blog isn’t good, as I said before they are all unique.

So enough of the rambling and onto the Blogging tips:

Be Yourself

It is really great to be inspired by other blogs and follow the crazes that go around but remember to keep your blog your own and be yourself.  Blog’s that have personality and show individuality are enjoyable to read and it’s really nice to see personal touches so as a reader you feel like you know the blogger better so can relate to them.

Photo’s

The key part of a blog, particularly one which is beauty and fashion related are the pictures.  The saying is a picture tells 1000 words and I believe it is true.  It is probably the first thing about your blog post your readers will see and pretty much make or break whether they will go on to read the post or not.  I love blogs that have large, clear photo’s that have had limited editing as I feel they are true to the products.  Backgrounds are also fun and  allow you to explore different ways to display products and are a good way to make your pictures different.

Swatches

If you’re talking about products where you can show swatches such a lip and eye products it is great to provide your reader with swatches both on your hand and your face.  It allows you to see how the product looks on your skin as it can often be different than in the pan.  It is always great to show the product where you would wear it too as the reader can get a proper feel for the product and how it looks.

Info

The more information you can provide your readers with the better.  It seems obvious but it’s something simple that can sometimes be missed.  By information, specifically I mean the price of the product and where you can purchase it and any other details you wish to include.  In the past I have read reviews and loved the product but had no idea where to buy it as it wasn’t by a well known brand.  This meant I had to google the item which is much more time consuming than it being included in the blog post.

Reviews

When reviewing a product it is definitely best to trial it for a good amount of time before blogging about it.  Your first impressions can be very different from how you feel about it several weeks after so to have an honest opinion about a product I think you need to give it a good try before you even think about writing about it.

Social Networking

I’ve spoken about social networking before but I think it is a vital part of blogging.  It is such a great way to tell people about your posts, interact with other bloggers and make friends.  Twitter, Blog Lovin and Instagram are my favourites.

There are many more tips I can share so if you enjoyed this post and would like a similar one let me know 🙂
