I thought today’s post will be less about beauty and more about blogging itself. I’ve said many times on here when I first started my blog I never in a million years would have thought anyone would have been interested in reading it so it has been amazing and overwhelming that so many of you do.
The Beauty Community
I never realised a huge beauty and fashion blogging community existed until I started blogging myself. Obviously before I started I knew there were blogs out there but I completely underestimated how many there are and all the different ways there are to communicate and share with fellows bloggers. I love that there are scheduled chats on twitter, meet ups and tags so we can all get to know each other a little better and I’m so happy to be a part of it. Through blogging I have even made some lovely friends who I regularly talk to and never would have met if it wasn’t our blogs and this lovely, friendly community.
A Fun Hobby / Outlet
I have a high pressure stressful job and I often find it hard to switch off when I leave the office. I still struggle from time to time but blogging has really helped because it allows me to focus on something else which I really enjoy. I find I can zone out when blogging whether I’m taking pictures, writing posts, talking on Twitter or looking at other blogs so it is definitely a time I can sit back, relax and enjoy my hobby.
Events
Blogging has given me the opportunity to attend some amazing events which previously I never even knew happened! It is so rewarding to know that brands are interested in my views and want me to attend the launches of products and stores. Every time it is an amazing experience and I love hearing what they have to say about the brand and products as all as getting to try them. Some events I have attended are by Debenhams. Benefit. REN and Lush to name a few.
New Products and Brands
There have been a lot of brands I have discovered since I started blogging who I had never come across before. It makes me sad to think if it wasn’t for my little blog then I wouldn’t be using and loving them now. I’m going to do a blog post in the future features all of my new discoveries so watch this space!
Making You Think
Since blogging I have thought about the products I buy and use a lot more. Before, I knew if I liked a product or not but I didn’t think about in as much depth as I do now and wasn’t as critical. I also definitely wasn’t as adventurous with colours and brands as I am now.
Confidence
I have always been a shy person but both blogging and my job has definitely helped me come out of my shell. If I think back to a couple of years ago I never would have considered attending events on my own or posting pictures of myself all over the internet but here I am doing it! I know this is also a touchy subject as there seems to be a lot of blog posts and You Tube videos around anxiety at the moment but sadly I also suffer from this and blogging has definitely helped.
