Dior Addict Lip Glow Review

I remember the first time I discovered Dior Addict Lip Glow.  I was in London and had just attended my first ever bloggers meet up at Selfridges. A few of us decided to have a wonder down Oxford Street and do a bit more shopping before having a few drinks and a meal together. Of course on the way we found ourselves in Boots and the lovely Zoe (from Face Value Blog) and I tried out some makeup, we were particularly gravitated towards the Dior counter.  The rest is history. Six years later, Zoe and I are still friends and I’m still loving this cute product.

Dior Addict Lip Glow

Dior Addict Lip Glow has beautiful packaging.  It’s no secret I love a splash of pink so maybe i’m biased but I think this baby pink case with silver accent looks sleek and elegant.  I love the size too. This compact lippy can easily fit in a small clutch bag which is ideal as I tend to take this product with me everywhere I go.

There is more to this product than what meets the eye. It is a lip balm that was inspired by the expert techniques of Dior backstage and is known as the universal must-have balm.  It’s obvious why.  I’ve never seen another lip product that has this intriguing colour reviver technology. The famous technology reacts to the unique chemistry of each person’s lips to give them a natural flush of bespoke colour which is perfect for their skin tone. The colour looks to enhance your natural lip colour.  It results in a shade that is ‘your lips but better’ meaning it will suit every skin tone and makeup look.

So the packaging is gorgeous and so is the concept but what about the product itself?

It is just as stunning. I have the original colour (001) which mimics the outer casing in shade. The slender barrel allows you to apply this lip balm on the go. It’s lightweight, smooth texture feels comfortable on the lips. The balm is hydrating and nourishing. As for the colour? It certainly does provide the perfect shade. I love the subtle pop of pink this balm gives me as it compliments any makeup look.

The formulation is a transparent, buttery, soft balm that is extremely moisturising and hydrating on the lips, although it isn’t particularly long lasting.  Given the price it is a shame it absorbs so quickly but that also has an advantage. Unlike many balms that make your lipsticks slip and slide, it you apply Dior Addict Lip Glow under your lipstick it provides the moisture you need without smearing your lipstick over your face.  They work really well with MAC lipsticks for example.

The scent of Dior Addict Lip Glow is refreshing but may not appeal to all. It has a subtle hint of peppermint which I really like, particularly as you can only smell it when you first apply the product.

The Collection

The Original Dior Addict Lip Glow has been on the market for a long time now but this year two variations have been added to the range which i’m very excited about.  There are 10 shades available and three different finishes.  These are:

  • Original Glow –  a Holy Grail product for me. This balm adds a custom rosy tint effect and subtle shine.
  • Matte Glow –  this adds a subtle soft pink flush to your lips with a velvety, matte finish for a soft blurring effect that enhances lips. Said to be hydrating and nourishing, this product is the perfect base for matte lipstick.
  • Holographic Glow – the same colour reviver technology but with an iridescent ‘holographic’ glow finish to enhance the lips

I’m most excited about the holographic finish as it’s unusual and I’m intrigued to find out what it looks like. Next time i’m near a Dior counter I will definitely be trying this out. Hopefully it will be as good as the original but it has a lot to live up to.
